Obscura Tsumugi Silk weft 2.1 meters
Obscura is the project I have undertaken as Artist in Residence at the Camera Obscura Art Lab in Santa Monica from April-July 2017. You can read more about it here.
The warp for this wrap is 10/2 100% Organic pima cotton. It has been hand-dyed in a palette to match a series of watercolor studies I completed at a favorite local park. The weft is Tsumugi silk in Dark Green. It is woven with a draft that may be found in Atlas de 4000 Armures by Louis Serrure (handweaving.net pattern #35167). This weave is visually uniform with a pleasingly nubby texture. With this weft, the fabric is airy and light. It can be scrunched to wear as a scarf or spread out to wear as a shawl. It may be converted to a ring sling. It would be most suitable for small babies. It weighs approximately 265 grams/m^2.
