True autumn colors - tawny, coppery and metallic. Think gold, copper, bronze - even a touch of oil-rubbed bronze and zinc. The warp is 70% mulberry silk/30% sea cell. It is incredibly soft with a beautiful luster. For this design, I selected 6 hand-dyed colorways from the Autumn Fields collection by Handmaiden Fine Yarns. Half of the yarns are dyed with tonal variations of one color and half are variegated skeins with high contrast. They have been organized on the loom to blend smoothly between colors and to create a varied striping pattern - with pools of color emerging and then dispersing along the length. The weave is a 16-shaft draft by Louis Serrure from Atlas de 4000 Armures - pattern #36232 on handweaving.net. The weft for this piece is a hand-dyed superwash merino wool. It weighs approximately 290 grams/m^2.

Recommended care: 

Special care should be taken in washing this wrap to preserve the color of the silk/sea cell and wool - which have been acid dyed. This is a method of dyeing in the which an acidic bath at high temperature is used to set the dye. Different types of acid dyes will have different levels of wash fastness. As such, your detergent - however gentle - can break the bonds between the fiber and the dye molecules. To avoid loss of color, wash in tepid water with a small amount of detergent. Take care not to soak in soapy water. If any color is released in the process, rinse until the water runs clear. Remove any excess water by rolling it in a towel and applying gentle pressure.
